It is with a heavy heart that I’m placing Fond/Sound on hiatus, until further notice. If you’d like to contribute to restoring it to its former glory, visit the link below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
See update at the end of this post…(THANK YOU!!!)
It’s rare if/ever I’d like to ask for this kind of help but the rare has happened…
The digital external hard drive that holds all the music I’ve shared on FOND/SOUND and use to create mixes for my LYL Radio show has malfunctioned and decided to stop working.
What does it hold? Quite possibly some of the rarest music from Japan and elsewhere that I might be the only person to have any digital copies of, and importantly, all future albums I planned to write and share with the world on the blog.
If ever you liked something from the site — 100% it originated from this external hard drive.
Currently: I’m having it analyzed by a data recovery company that can try to salvage any and all of the files still in it.
Unfortunately, as with other places that specialize in such data recovery services, the cost to get this done is sorely beyond a regular person’s budget (especially one who’s already was depleted from a large, new home expense). Unfortunately, this also means: FOND/SOUND will be on hiatus until this hard drive issue gets straightened out.
FOND/SOUND is run solely by myself (including writing and hosting it), Diego Olivas, sans advertising, paywall and/or everything else that seems to pervade far too many audio blogging sites. Any help you can provide during this time would be greatly appreciated! Hit the link below to find out you can contribute.
Thanks for your time.

UPDATE — Mar. 30, 2021: I’m taking off the donate button.
Thanks to your kind help and consideration we were able to meet the donation goal. I can’t thank you all enough! Whatever is left in excess will go into a disk-based or cloud-based backup for this problematic drive (once it’s, hopefully, recovered).
